Grinds are an excellent compost for the garden by all means use it, mix it well into your present soil. As for the leaves turning yellow it could be over watering or to much nitrogen in the soil. The sun should help remedy the problem and it will hopefully dissipate.

Have fun
Reply:If you have alkaline soil you do not want to use coffee grounds. Coffee grounds are used on plants that grow in acidic soil.

Here is information on soils:

Reply:YES IT IS TRUE COFFEE GROUNDS ARE GOOD FOR YOUR PLANTS IT HELPS KEEP THEM MOIST, yes take the yellow leaves off it drains from the green ones, try moving it so gets morning sun .
Reply:only for plants that like acid, and gardenias are one of those plants, so put some coffee grinds, but not too much
