Acalypha wilkesiana Muell. Arg. 'Macafeeana', a.k.a. 'copper leaf' of the family Euphorbiaceae, and; Samanea saman, a.k.a. Gardenia jasminoides Ellis was earlier known as G. florida L.

Samanea saman, Merrilbu. was earlier called

Pithecolobium saman , Bentham.

There is no change in the remaining name,

However, Acalypha wilkesiana , Muell. has a varity ' tricolor '

It has the same description, the leaves have colored spots.
Reply:It takes a lot of effort for botanists to change names. The G. jasminoides Ellis still pulls from government botanical pages so does not currently appear to have changed names. It is known commonly as gardenia and cape-jasmine.

Acalypha wilkesiana Muell does not seem to have changed. The Macafeeana relates to the hybrid variety. Common names include beefsteakplant, copperleaf, fire-dragon, and Jacob's-coat but although these plants look very very similar in leaf and flower structure, there are distinctive differences in growth pattern. However, they are all the same species.

Samanea saman or Monkeypod, which is the common name I am familar with, is one of my favorite trees. It is still the same as well.
