What is the importance of this quote from to kill a mocking bird?

“Mr. Ewell wrote on the back of the envelope and looked up complacently to see Judge Taylor staring at him as if he were some fragrant gardenia in full bloom on the witness stand. to see Mr. Gilmer half-sitting, half-standing at his table….”

p.s your not doing my homework this is one chapter out of 30 i already did
What is the importance of this quote from to kill a mocking bird?
Hmm it's been a while since I've read that book, but I would have to "bs" that judge Taylor doesn't look at Mr. Ewell like a real person. Mr. Ewell just another person he has to judge.
Reply:Judge Taylor sees that Atticus is just another person to give another verdict. It shows that the Judge has made his decision already.
