Tiny green bugs on my gardenias?

I have tiny little green bugs on my gardenia bush. I see them on the leaves but not on the branches. At first I thought it was dew but then realized they were moving.

WHAT are they? They are eating the leaves and buds before they have a chance to bloom or open up.

Aphids--

you can rinse them off

they are soft bodied

and a hard spray of water will kill most of them

feed your gardenia Miracid

plants that are well fed get fewer bugs
Reply:Well they could be Aphids but if you were convinced for a minute they were leaves, i would assume that they might be a Javanese Leaf insect (or some other bug that looks like a leaf :) ) in order to get rid of aphids you can use a liquid mixture made of Soap and water mixed together or you can buy ladybugs to eat them. Note that your garden can still be organic if you use either of these methods!

now for the Javanese Leaf insect , i appologize but i have no idea what to do with those then to pick them off by hand! sorry :D

Hope i helped!
Reply:Aphids love the new growth on gardenias. Aphids suck the fluids out of the leaves and they drop off and they leave a sticky honeydew, (aphid pee) which turns black and smothers the leaves. To control aphids use yellow sticky pads hanging from a branch or two to attract and kill them and power wash off the soft bodied aphids with a strong spray from your garden hose. This usually kills them. Then for the next generation (the eggs left behind),a good spray of insecticidal soap would keep them at bay sprayed at two week intervals.
Reply:aphids. If you buy some ladybugs online they will eat them.
