I planted two gardenia plants planted them in 18in clay pots the blooms will not blossom. What do I do?

If all is well with the plant except that it is not blooming you probably need to give it more sun. Do you have a sunnier window you can move it to?

Also an old trick is to place the plant in a clear plastic bag with an apple. As the apple ripens it gives off methane tricking many plants into blooming.

Just put some air into a clear plastic bag or prop it up like a tent over the plant and apple. Take it down in 3 to 4 days.

mine is in ground and doesn't bloom till late june/early july in Ga
Reply:another possibility is the heat. Gardenias will outright refuse to bloom if it's hotter than 85 degrees for too long, though they prefer around 75.
Reply:Gardenias are really sensitive. Some might say fussy. THey're probably in shock from coming from wherever they did and then being replanted. I don't know what climate area you live in, so I can't really tell you specific care, but if I were you I would ask a local nursery person about the best way to care for them.
