Pokeomn pearl help with 2nd gym?

im in the 2nd gym i cant beat gardenia. heres my team. CHATOT:LVL12 (WONT LISTEN) GROTLE: LVL 20 MAGIKARP: LVL 18 LUXIO:LVL 19 BIDOOF: LVL11( HM'S) SHELLOS: LVL 17 ( JUST IN MY TEAM FOR NOW). HELP

Get a Pokemon with a Level higher than 22. Don't deal with the Chatot, get your Grotle to a high level. If that's troublesome, get a flying type. Flying is good against grass types, especially on Roserade. I recommend Starly, it should be a Staravia around the level you should fight Gardenia. Power train your Grotle if you want to whip Gardenia. Don't use Shellos. Magikarp, you can evolve to Gyarados. So then you can get Gyarados to learn Bite, and evantually get some move that's good against Gardenia's grass moves. Good luck.
