Tattoo cover up?

So, I have a tattoo of a tribal dragon my left shoulder. I used to have this obsession with dragons when I was 18-19 and now that i'm 26 and a mom, I feel as though I've grown out of it. I want to get something a little more feminine. I want to get either angel wings like my guardian angel watching over me or a gardenia because it means joy and good luck. Besides its beautiful. Has anyone ever had an all black tattoo covered up? What was the outcome? Any advice is greatly appreciated!
Tattoo cover up?
ha! i got a black (but not tribal) dragon when i was 18 and at 24 i decided i was so over it. i really never "loved" it but i liked it until i grew up. sadly solid black can't be covered with color so you will be somewhat limited in what you can get. i ended up going with a full back tattoo and my dragon got covered up with a lava rock. if you want to see my completed tattoo you can look at my 360 page. the best thing to do is talk to a custom tattoo artist about your options. do be sure to look at portfolios of artists because not all artists are able to do the same caliber of work and you don't want a crappy coverup!

good luck!
Reply:find a good artist though, and see what they are willing to do. just because something can be done, doesn't mean someone is willing to do it. they will probably recommend you have several rounds of laser removal treatment to lighten it up and then see what you are working with.

also, doesn't mean it's going to turn out nice either. this guy did a cover up on my friend, and you can see her old tattoo right through the new one plain as day.
Reply:A real good artist will be able to cover it up with another design. Basically incorperate it with the new one. Nsyncing line together. Cover ups are not cheap.
