HELP?? 6th grade homework!!!!!!!! PLZ PLZ PLZ!?
I feel your pain. Can you see that if 20 people prefer roses, that's half the customers, so half the flowers should be roses.

20 divided by 40 = .5 or 50% or 1/2

8 people prefer daisies. 8 divided by 40 = .2 or 20% or 1/5, so 1/5 should be daisies.

8 people prefer mums, so the same as daisies.

4 people prefer gardenias. 4 divided by 40 = .1 or 10% of 1/10.

SO -- if you have 50 flowers, 1/2 would be 25 roses; 1/5 would be 10 daisies; 1/5 would be 10 mums; 1/10 would be 5 gardenias. GOOD LUCK ON YOUR TEST.
Reply:I would use a proportion.

Since you know the ratios for 40 customers, changing to 50 customers would be written as 40/50.

For the daisies and mums (since they're both 8),

40/50=8/x

40x=400

x=10

So 10 of each (daisies and mums) should be bought.

Gardenias: 40/50=4/x

40x=200

x=5

So 5 Gardenias should be bought

Rose: 40/50=20/x

40x=1000

x=25

So 25 roses should be bought.

10 daisies, 5 gardenias, 10 mums, 25 roses
Reply:well, you are looking at sort of percentage problem here.

Your sampling is 40 people total.

Find the common denominator of 40 and 100, then do the math to get the percentage of people who like each type of flower.

Now you have to take those percentages and halve them, because you are only going to look at 50 bunches of flowers, or 1/2 of 100.

Here is an example.

Out of 40 people, 20 (or half of the sample) like roses.

So, that would be 50% of the people we talked to like roses. Out of 50 bunches, 50% should be roses. (do the math)

Do the same for the rest of them.

4 people is what percent of 40?

Hint- 8 people out of 40 would be double the 4% number....

Reply:This site will help you with your math.
Reply:well, you would have to find a way to add multiples of 8, 4, and 20 in order to get fifty bunches (assuming that a bunch is one flower).

therefore, it you would probably work backwards

50-20=30 so what multiples of thirty would you use (only using 8 and 4).
